No Kids, No Calls, No Chance: The Gobbler Heads to Myrtle Beach
The Gobbler Open leveled up in 2025. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina officially became the first state to host the Gobbler tournament that required plane tickets, itinerary planning, and a total abandonment of work, family, and responsibility. For three days, it was golf, sweat, beer, and banter. Nothing else existed, other than the pizza farts.
Gone were the days of four-round regular seasons. This year, we tightened the screws: one regular season round to seed the field, followed by a two-day championship. It was leaner, meaner, and full of leaderboard swings.
Day One: brutal. 90% humidity, heat index in the 100’s, tee time at high noon. It melted everyone. Clubs were slippery, spirits were damp, and scorecards looked like crime scenes. Earlier tee times on the weekend allowed smoother swings and chill vibes.
Andrew, the late addition, a Brandon Kruse special invite, only confirmed about a month out, proved that consistency still reigns supreme. He posted top-4 rounds each day and never once felt concern about being at the top of the leaderboard. Cool and collected, the pressure of competing for the Gobbler belt never materialized for this consistant player.
The final group had every opportunity to test him but no one in the group applied real pressure. Levi, per usual, tried to stir the pot late in the tourney, but it never really got uncomfortable for Andrew. His nerves were just steady enough, his game just tight enough, that he never had to look over his shoulder. Andrew just played his game, stayed level-headed, and walked away with the belt. A Gobbler rookie — now a Gobbler champion.
Off the course, the vibes matched the golf. Gorgeous SC beaches. Shockingly great Airbnbs. Nights filled with stories, games, and the delusion that we were still in our 20s.
Special recognition to Cody, who made the drive up from Austin to Myrtle. MVP move, picking guys up from the airport, keeping the wheels moving, literally. That’s the kind of stuff that earns permanent Gobbler karma, and the little pecker belt.
Calcutta Champion: Brandon Kruse. Drafted a killer squad of Levi, Peter, Andrew & Kenn.
